AptarGroup Inc. develops and markets dispensing systems for use in the personal care, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage markets. Among the products that AptarGroup markets are dispensing spray pumps, bottle spouts, and aerosol valves for the personal care, food and beverage markets, and injectable and metered dosing systems for medicine delivery. The company has over 12000 employees worldwide, with 7100 located in Europe.
The company has over 5000 customers around the world, and manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Sales outside the United States make up a majority of company sales, with Europe providing about half of AptarGroup’s sales. About one-sixth of company sales come from other foreign countries; only about a quarter of company sales come from within the United States.
AptarGroup’s business is organized into three segments: Beauty & Home, Food & Beverage, and Pharma.
The Beauty & Home segment accounts for roughly 60% AptarGroup’s net sales. Beauty and Personal Care sub-segments provide roughly half of the segment’s sales each, with Home Care accounting for the remaining sales within the segment.
Pharma provides about 30% of AptarGroup’s sales. About half of segment sales came from the prescription drug market; the remaining sales came from the consumer health care market and the injectables market. Examples of applications for AptarGroup products include nasal sprays, measured dosing for respiratory ailments, lotion dispensers and pre-filled syringe components.
The Food & Beverage segment is the smallest of the three, accounting for the remaining company sales. Segment sales are distributed equally between the foods market and the beverages markets. Examples of AptarGroup product applications include cooking and salad dressing sprays, sauces and condiments, and powdered food products.
The company is a member of the S&P Mid Cap 400 index and S&P’s High Yield Dividend Aristocrats index, and trades under the ticker symbol ATR.

AptarGroup was spun off from the Pittway Group in 1993 and has paid dividends since then; the company began increasing them the following year. The company usually announces annual dividend increases in October, with the stock going ex-dividend later in the month.
