Since there were no dividend announcements from either the Aristocrats or High Yield Aristocrats this week, I figured now would be a good time to review how these 54 stocks have done over the last 8 months.
The Year-to-Date Performance as of August 30, 2014 of the S&P Dividend Aristocrats.
The returns of the individual Aristocrats have ranged from +24.23% for real estate investment trust HCP, Inc. (HCP), to -11.41% for thermal and fluid management company Pentair (PNR). In comparison, the S&P 500 (using the SPY exchange traded fund as a surrogate) has returned 9.68%. Overall, 19 of the 54 Aristocrats beat the return of the S&P 500 benchmark index. These 19 companies, with their year-to-date gains and current yields, are:
